About Allie Kessel, LCSW
More About Allie
I often hear from the people I work with statements like, “I feel crazy,” or “I know this is a problem, but I don’t know what to do about it.” These feelings can leave you feeling isolated, alone, and unsure whether change is possible. That mindset is a very normal place to begin—and it’s a place I’m glad you’ve found.
My objective is to foster a supportive, safe, and secure environment, welcoming each client with warmth and genuine care. I specialize in anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and offer online counseling designed to create lasting, meaningful results. Together, we’ll embark on a journey to deepen your self-understanding, clarify your priorities, and collaborate on the healing process by integrating both mind and body approaches.
What you can expect:
A compassionate, non-judgmental space where your experiences are heard and respected
Evidence-based care tailored to your unique needs
Clear goals and collaborative planning focused on real-world change
Practical tools you can use daily to manage anxiety and OCD symptoms
Flexible online sessions designed to fit your schedule and lifestyle
A focus on both cognitive strategies and bodily-aware practices to support lasting relief
My Approach
My approach centers on creating a collaborative space where clients can explore, understand, and navigate the challenges associated with anxiety and OCD. Through empathetic listening and evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I aim to foster a supportive alliance that encourages self-discovery and resilience.
For adults, the therapy process delves into various aspects of life, including managing work-related stress, navigating relationships, and addressing major life transitions. Together, we work to identify and implement coping strategies, enhancing emotional regulation and well-being.
In working with teenagers, the focus extends to the complexities of adolescence, addressing issues such as identity formation, peer relationships, academic stress and family dynamics. My goal is to empower teens with effective tools for emotional management, communication, and problem-solving, guiding them through this transformative phase of life.
Methods and Modalities
-
A therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings while committing to actions aligned with their values, fostering psychological flexibility and well-being.
-
A therapeutic modality that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness, emphasizing the development of skills to manage emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and promote overall emotional well-being.
-
A goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors, aiming to promote positive changes in one’s emotions and actions.
-
A therapeutic approach that involves gradually exposing you to anxiety-inducing situations or thoughts, while processing the accompanying compulsive behaviors, fostering resilience and reducing anxiety over time.
-
A body-centered approach to healing that focuses on nervous system regulation rather than just talking about events. Through mindful attention to bodily sensations, small, felt “somatic” experiences are used to gradually increase capacity for calm and resilience.
-
A contemplative therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to cultivate a mindful and compassionate relationship with themselves.
